TenarisAlgomaTubes

We have been investing in Canada for 10 years creating infrastructure to support the demanding energy market. Tenaris has a domestic production capacity of nearly 650,000 tons annually through its facilities located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; AlgomaTubes, Canada’s only seamless pipe mill; in Calgary, Alberta; Prudential Steel, Tenaris’s welded pipe mill and in Nisku and Edmonton, Alberta, Tenaris’s premium joint threading facilities. Tenaris also has the only premium joint threading facility in Nova Scotia.

Tenaris’s history in Canada began in 1999, when TenarisAlgomaTubes leased the idle mill owned by Algoma Steel Inc. After renovation work was completed, Tenaris AlgomaTubes began production in September 2000. The 120 new employees breathed life into the idle mill. Since its first year of operation, the mill’s volume has grown from 50,000 Metric tons to its current level of nearly 200,000 Metric tons per year.

In 2004, TenarisAlgomaTubes purchased the land and manufacturing facilities it had been leasing up until that time. Today, the mill employs over 550 employees, which is in turn is responsible for an infusion of over 30 million dollars in wages into the economy in Sault Ste. Marie and over 300 million dollars of value-added products in Canada.
