The Tenaris commercial organization is made up of two key areas: the commercial Front End and Supply Chain. The commercial team reaches out to customers and ensures that their needs are met. On the Supply Chain side, our aim is to complement our customers’ operations, from mill to well.

Alejandro Lammertyn
Commercial Director

At Tenaris’s Commercial Front End, we have one of the most important responsibilities within the company. Our job is to relate directly to the customer, enabling Tenaris to prosper and grow. Our team members work to anticipate customers’ needs and make sure that they are met.

In the Supply Chain area, we work to solve operational or logistical problems and comply with delivery schedules, even in complex systems with multiple variables. Our job begins with the reservation of mill capacity and managing the manufacturing process. We also handle logistics up to and including the delivery and installation of the right products at the right time and place.

Joining our commercial team or Supply Chain involves comprehensive training. Our new recruits learn about all aspects of Tenaris’s business: products, services and production processes. It is important to have a broad and comprehensive overview of the company in order to carry out tasks as efficiently as possible. Both areas need people with particular skills to optimize results and well-grounded knowledge of Tenaris’s products, needs and applications. They need to know how the mill works and how products are manufactured.

A career in the commercial area typically starts with work as an analyst whose job is to understand the customer and their needs. With our system of local and global business units, it is possible to be the supplier of choice for a customer in a particular region or for one that operates in different parts of the world.

There are commercial challenges in our business all over the globe and our people have the opportunity to play a direct role in tackling them. It is a chance to learn about the country or the region where the customer is operating, including developing and maintaining good relations with government authorities. In their work around the world, our salespeople are the company’s ambassadors. Professional growth goes hand-in-hand with international exposure and experience.

If you become a member of Supply Chain, your career will typically start as a scheduling analyst at a mill, a logistics analyst or an order manager assigned to specific customers. You will have the chance to interact with a Supply Chain structure of around 1000 people around the globe. If you begin in a region, you will be in daily contact with our customers’ logistics departments. Growth in Supply Chain will help to you understand Tenaris’s central system, improve our customer satisfaction and allow you to make decisions with high impact on cost reductions.

To join our team you need to demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to relate to people and a capacity to understand the customer. This should be strengthened by an analytical mind-set to process information about the customer’s industry and Tenaris’s strengths.
