In Zalău, the renewal of the certification, done by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) started its process late November. During this visit, the auditor analyzed different processes covering a wide range of activities: from management process, product manufacturing processes in all manufacturing sectors, maintenance, client related processes, planning and programming, purchasing, to quality control and human resources training.
In Călăraşi, the renewal of the certification was also conducted by LRQA late November. The audit was developed on a similar map with the one applied in Zalau, reaching all the specific activities for the steel plant, such as refractory preparation, scrap services (including the measurement of radioactivity) or continuous casting.
“The key objectives and the indicators established by the top management for each process are continually controlled by the process owners, through equipments and proper software, so we know at each specific moment the actions used to reach the objectives,” said Laszlo Morent, Management Representative QMS.
As a result of the inspections, the quality management systems from both mills have been approved by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance in accordance with ISO 9001:2000.
In Zalau, the system is applicable to the manufacturing and sales of hot rolled tubes, cold drawn tubes and couplings and in Calarasi for the manufacturing of carbon and low alloy steel bars of round and rectangular shape, destined to the production of pipes, sections and other steel products.
The new certificate will be valid for three years.
