Tenaris promotes eco-friendly practices in Chinese elementary schools

Tenaris is working with the Roots & Shoots (R&S) organization in China to make a contribution to the community and the environment through a series of environmental protection activities with local elementary schools.

The key goal of the program is to help schools in the community to develop a green culture and to nurture and encourage students to become citizens who will contribute to sustainable development both locally and globally.

In September, Tenaris volunteers and Roots & Shoots representatives began the environmental program, “Organic Grow”, at two new local elementary schools near the Tenaris facility in Qingdao, China.

“We hope people can understand the importance of environmental protection in China and we are working to teach the next generation to take care of the environment. This is also part of our commitment to social development,” said Ricardo Capria, Country Manager China.

The first successful environmental project “Paper Recycling” ran in the 2011-2012 school year and was met with great enthusiasm from students and teachers. A follow-up activity will be held in December 2013.
