What are the main objectives of Tenaris
Process and Power Plant Services business unit?
|
| |
|
First of all, to deliver value to our customers
by redesigning the supply chain, minimizing
risk, reducing costs, increasing flexibility
and reducing time-to-market. We use our global
manufacturing and commercial network as well
as e-business solutions. Also, our Research
and Development department plays a key role.
We also want to continuously expand our range
of products and services. Recently, we expanded
our range providing T91 and T911 products in
virtually all sizes. Also, we introduced T23,
a grade that makes its place between T22 and
T91.

What e-business tools are you employing to reach
the customer?
|
| |
|
During the last year and a half, our e-business
team has been developing systems and applications
that allow for a broad integration of business
processes between the end user and us, the manufacturer.
The basic concept was for Tenaris and the customer
to become mutually involved in the supply-chain
process at a very early stage in order to avoid
extra costs of handling, shipping and storage.
The e-tools aim at merging the customer's project
planning and our production planning.
|
Where are you focusing to provide services efficiently?
|
| |
|
We are focused on reducing the risk our customers
face due to deliveries that don't meet their
project schedules. We are adding project-management
content to our offer, which is also reflected
in our organization structure with the creation
of project-management and regional product-management
departments. These new areas coordinate the
procurement of Tenaris and non-Tenaris products
and ensure compliance with delivery dates in
the most efficient way. It is our objective
to have centers of expertise in the major global
regions: Europe, Asia and the Americas. We see
the global network of Tenaris offices and our
network of recognized distributors as tools
we can use to reduce the customer's total cost
of procuring piping materials and services.
|
Which markets are your primary areas of focus?
|
| |
| Projects
related to petrochemical plants, refineries and
power generation are our primary focus. In addition,
boiler, heat exchanger and equipment manufacturers
are very strategic for us. Last but not least,
the network of recognized Tenaris distributors
concludes our three segments. Each of those segments
requires unique services and products. We need
to tailor our organization to provide the right
skill sets. That's why we've planned our offices
around them, separating commercial from processing
activities. |
| |
How do you feel about the future?
|
| |
| I
feel very confident because we have experience
and the right people to succeed. |
