Polypropylene (PP) Multilayer

Product Description

Thermal insulation consists of a combination of anticorrosion and thermo insulation materials that are applied to the steel pipe in multiple layers. The system is similar to conventional three layer anticorrosion systems with the only difference being the introduction of additional layers of PP solid, foam or syntactic depending on the water depth involved.

Manufacturing Process

When the PP on the pipe is pre-heated, it softens allowing complete fusion between the PP on the pipe and new layer of PP being extruded. During the application of the PP, the pressure roller applies constant pressure to the extruded PP curtain (molten PP) and the softened PP coated pipe, ensuring the homogeneity of the material and eliminating the possibility of voids and air bubbles

During the cooling process, the outer most layer shrinks rapidly, forcing the still soft and molten materials to further fuse at their interface.

Polyurethane (PU)

Product Description

Tenaris offers you the most technically advanced PU insulating solution, which consists of a steel carrier pipe and an outer pipe, generally made of high density polythelyne (HDPE). Polyurethane foam is poured into the annular cavity between the 2 pipes to provide insulation whilst the HDPE pipe protects the foam. For high temperature service, the polyurethane foam can be a composition of different foams.

PU thermal insulation coating is ideal for buried central heating systems. It is intended for economical, quick and easy installment without special precautions, and avoids the need for expensive brick or concrete ducts. The final installation costs of a central district heating by this system are considerably cheaper than traditional construction methods.

In line with our policy of providing customers with integrated solutions Tenaris also provides pre-insulated fittings such as elbows, tees etc. Similarly we can tailor-make the carrier pipe, outer pipe, foam insulation thickness and insulation material according to your specific project requirements.
