Effect of Y/T on LP Reliability Analysis
Case Study: Collapse Prediction of Deepwater line pipe (LP)

Project Scope

To develop a numerical model which predicts the collapse of LP subject to external pressure plus bending. To evaluate the influence of geometrical and other features on collapse resistance (Ovality, Eccentricity, Bauchinger effect, residual stresses).
To carry out a series of full scale testing at C-FER with external pressure plus blending.

Participants

CINI, E. Dvorkin
C-FER, Canada

Expected Outputs

A deeper understanding of the variables that contribute to the collapse resistance of LP. Collapse is one of the phenomena which concerns everyone involved in deepwater lines design. Once consolidated, the model will be a powerful tool for both LP manufacturers and designers.

A technical paper on the subject will be presented by Tenaris at the Offshore Pipeline Technology conference in February 2002 in Amsterdam.
