The Fondazione Dalmine
is a non-profit making organization, set up in 1998 by Dalmine
S.p.A., with the purpose of conserving, enlarging and making the
most of the Historical Archive of the company and the group. Gaining
recognition from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Environmental
Conservation, the Foundation began its activity in 1999, starting
a consultation service of the Historical Archive and publication
of a series of books on the theme of the company's history and
culture.
Furthermore, the Foundation organizes
exhibitions, seminaries, visits, and lessons and practical exercise
in historical research and archive keeping. The Historical Archive
of the Dalmine Foundation holds documents, photographs, architectural
plans and audio-visual products of Dalmine S.p.A. and controlled
and associated organizations from 1906 onwards: a rich testimony
to the history of the firm and the sector, its technological and
organizational development and its interaction with the area.
The project to computerize and put
on-line the Archive allows both specialist and general users to
access the Foundation's web site in order to consult a database
relevant to the Archive's content, make enquiries, conduct guided
research and visualize a selection of documents.
With the purpose of involving young
or recent graduates in their own projects, the Foundation offers
tutoring for degree theses and promotes stages on projects linked
to modern history, industrial history, the conservation and exploitation
of cultural heritage and communication of history and company
culture matters.
