25 years and counting: Tenaris celebrates milestone at Hickman plant

Tenaris’s welded pipe plant in Hickman, Arkansas, is celebrating 25 years of operations this month, serving the domestic industry with high quality products and maintaining its commitment to being an active community partner.

The first pipe produced at the facility was in March 1993, and the mill has since continued to produce oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and line pipe products to serve oil and gas customers.

“The team has to be proud of its many accomplishments - in safety, training, quality, efficiency, and the flexibility and innovation demonstrated over the years - all driven by their unwavering commitment to keep raising the bar,” says Luca Zanotti, Tenaris President, USA. “The plant’s successes are their successes. We look forward to the next 25.”

Tenaris has invested more than $260 million in the mill since 2006, including its most recent investment, an $8.2 million project to consolidate two existing quality labs into one to streamline the testing of products using advanced, automated machinery.

Tenaris supports the development and growth of the communities where it has operations through education and training, volunteer activities, and arts and culture initatives.

To help mark the milestone anniversary, Tenaris will be donating $25,000 to benefit longtime community partner, The Arts Council of Mississippi County, a non-profit that aims to raise awareness of the value of arts and culture through programs and exhibitions. Tenaris has been a patron sponsor of the organization, supporting summer and holiday workshops for children of TenarisHickman employees and the community.

“The work of the Arts Council helps keep arts education alive, offering a variety of programs for patrons of all ages, and at an historic venue, the Ritz,” says Tracey Ritchey, who manages community relations at Tenaris’s Hickman facility and has been with the company for 25 years. “This donation will help the Council advance its vision and encourage community engagement through the arts.”

Tenaris has invested approximately $2.6 million in education and support for the arts in Hickman since 2010, this includes scholarships, afterschool programs, technical education programs, and strategic donations.
