Tenaris launches Roberto Rocca Scholarships in Thailand

The 1st Roberto Rocca Scholarship Program Ceremony was held at the Tenaris Songkhla Service Center on Feburary 22, 2019 in the presence of Songkhla government officers, representatives from Chevron, college students and teachers.

The Tenaris Songkhla Service Center, is part of the Rig Direct® service model, which provides complete pipe management services including demand planning and inventory management, preparation for running offshore, PipeTracer™ pipe-by-pipe identification, and net invoicing. These services help oil and gas companies operating offshore in Gulf of Thailand, improve operational reliability and efficiency while reducing the total cost of operations.

During the ceremony, twenty-nine students from Hatyai Technical College and Songkhla Polytechnic College received Roberto Rocca Scholarships to acknowledge and support their high performance in academics and professional aspirations. Tenaris, as co-sponsors of the Roberto Rocca Scholarship, encourages students to pursue further education in engineering and applied sciences.

Daniel McKee, Tenaris Thailand Country Manager delivered a welcome speech, “Introducing the Roberto Rocca Education Program to Thailand reaffirms our commitment to the community where we work. Education is truly one of the most powerful instruments that sets the foundation for sustainable growth. Through this program, we are pleased to support these young people’s passion for learning, which is critical to the community’s development and success.”

Mr. Sakra Kapilakarn, Songkhla’s Vice Governor, shared his thoughts during the event, “This Roberto Rocca scholarship program for the students today is considered as an educational investment, which is very important to build a firm foundation for students and for the future of the nation. In the world today, only education can drive a nation toward a better life and progress, keeping up with the world and equal to other civilized countries. I would like to thank the management team of Tenaris who have made it possible to grant scholarships to these excellent students. I hope all of the students will use the funds to maximize the benefits of your education.”

All of the government officers, guests from Chevron, teachers and students were invited to join in a facility tour to better understand this unique service center that is supported by new technologies and high standards in quality, health, safety and environment from yard design to operation.
