Today, Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri visited Tenaris’s plant under construction in Bay City, Texas during his trip to the United States.
He was joined by members of his administration, Tenaris President & CEO Paolo Rocca and Tenaris executives.
The Argentine leader toured the seamless pipe mill – Tenaris’s first greenfield projet in the United States, and the most technologically advanced pipe manufacturing facility in the world.
From its beginning, Tenaris has supported domestic oil and gas markets through its local mills. Rocca discussed TenarisBayCity and how this investment also reflects the company’s strategy that was born in Argentina.
“TenarisBayCity is key to our industrial deployment in the U.S. and key to the redesign of the supply chain we call Rig Direct™,” said Rocca. “We have been doing this in other parts of the world for many years. Having local plants that are integrated globally allows us to offer our customers pipe products and services under this direct delivery model that synchronizes the production of pipe with drilling operations.”
TenarisBayCity is part of an industrial system which is supported by welded pipe mills in Arkansas and Texas, and service centers located near major oil and gas operations such as those in Midland and Freeport, Texas.
TenarisBayCity is set to start its operations this fall. Earlier this month, the mill received its API certifications, API 5CT and 5L, as well as ISO 9001.
Macri is visiting Houston on business before continuing his travels to Washington, DC.
