Tenaris has awarded 28 students of the Polytechnical College of Mangystau, in Aktau, Kazakhstan, with Merit Awards in recognition of their academic performance and to help the young scholars continue their studies in the field of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
The scholarship recipients have demonstrated excellence throughout the school year and are also winners of the local World Skills Aktau competition held among technical colleges to promote skilled professions, competency and higher learning for growth. Each student received 169,000 KZT, for a total value of the offered scholarships of over $11,000 USD.
Serik Alimbayev, a third year student at the college, said, “I want to thank the company for recognizing my achievements, It’s a gesture that motivates all of us to develop our knowledge and improve day by day.”
The Merit Award ceremony was held at the Mangystau Polytechnical College in Aktau on June 11, 2021, with the participation of Gulmira Kalmuratova, Deputy Mayor of Mangystau Region, and Svetlana Tulebayeva, Head of the Education Department.
“I sincerely express thanks to Tenaris for its active participation in the development of technical and professional education,” commented Kalmuratova in her speech. “This is a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists, and we hope to strengthen our longtime and successful cooperation.”
Samat Kulchikov, General Director of Tenaris’s premium threading facility in Aktau (KPTL), and Saltanat Baltayeva, Tenaris Regional HR Leader attended the scholarship ceremony in support of global educational initiatives such as Tenaris’s Merit Awards. “We are actively promoting education in the Mangystau Region for continued growth and development of our communities,” said Kulchikov. “This is the second year in which the company grants Merit Awards to students at local schools and colleges.”
