From Maintenance to Supply Chain: Understanding the full picture at Tenaris

At just 22, Adnan Alyousef walked into Tenaris for the first time as an intern. Born and raised in Saudi Arabia, he didn’t yet have a defined career path, but he did have a strong curiosity and willingness to learn.

“I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do,” he recalls with a smile. “But Tenaris gave me the space to try, to learn, and to grow. That made all the difference.”

Adnan’s early career was shaped by Tenaris’s rotational programs, which exposed him to different functions across the supply chain and manufacturing operations. From operations and maintenance to logistics and strategic project execution, each experience helped him see the business from new perspectives.

“Working in Maintenance made me think differently about production,” he says. “Then, in Supply Chain, I learned how every decision echoes across the operation. Each move helped me understand how everything connects.”

His journey also took him across multiple Tenaris’s facilities in Saudi Arabia, including the company’s first finishing pipe mill in Saudi Arabia, as well as TenarisSSP, its first welded pipe mill in Saudi Arabia. Later, he joined TenarisGPC, the largest LSAW pipe producer in the country.

“Relocating was challenging,” he adds. “You need to build trust with new teams and adapt to new environments. But that is where real growth happens.”

Supporting innovation in carbon storage

Today, as Supply Chain Project Execution Manager, Adnan is contributing to one of the region’s most significant industrial initiatives: Aramco’s Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project. The project involves the delivery of 175,000 tons of pipes and requires close coordination across internal teams, suppliers, and customer operations.

“It is about trust,” he says. “Every week, we align on progress, risks, and lessons learned. My role is to help ensure we anticipate challenges and deliver with confidence. What we learn here strengthens our ability to execute new projects. This is proof of how collaboration across functions and facilities leads to real, measurable results.”

Adnan credits his development to his curiosity and the opportunities he found within Tenaris.

“Each rotation helped me learn how to adapt and contribute. The company believed in my potential before I even had a clear direction, and that motivated me to give my best.”

His advice for young professionals starting their careers is clear: “Stay curious. Do not wait for the perfect plan. Ask questions and explore. Curiosity will lead you to opportunities you never imagined.”

When reflecting on his journey, Adnan smiles. “If my younger self saw me now, he would be surprised to see all this happening in one company. But I think he would also be proud of the growth and grateful for the support that helped make it possible.”
