Balancing the mill and the ring: a story of trust and teamwork

For more than twenty years, Jim Fiore, Welding Operator at Tenaris’s production center in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, has balanced two demanding worlds: the fast‑paced environment of the hot rolling mill and the high‑energy, unpredictable arena of professional wrestling. Fiore joined Tenaris in 2002 and stepped into the wrestling ring in 2007. Since then, he has built an impressive resume in the sport — all while remaining a steady, trusted presence on the shop floor.

“Wrestling is my outlet,” Fiore says. “When I go through those curtains and see the crowd, I get a rush. The butterflies I get in my stomach is what draws me.”

At Tenaris, Fiore works in mandrel bar repair within the tooling department and supports mill changeovers. “It’s hard work, and I enjoy it,” he says.

His wrestling career has taken him across Canada and the US, where he has shared the ring with several World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstars. Among his many accomplishments is a defining victory in the Canadian Wrestling's Elite (CWE) Royal Rumble on October 1, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie, which earned him a shot at the CWE Heavyweight Championship during a sold‑out event on January 7, 2026.

The connection between Fiore’s two worlds runs deeper than it may seem. Trust, he says, is at the core of both.

In wrestling, he often meets his opponents for the first time on the day of the show, yet they must work together safely and professionally. Inside the mill, that same trust keeps Fiore and his team aligned. “You take that trust and discipline along with a positive mindset and bring it to work,” Fiore explains. “When you’re wrestling, you’re putting your life on the line and trusting the people you’re working with. Here at the mill, it’s the same. Safety is key. I need to trust my team, just like they trust me to have their backs.”

With 24 years under his belt at Tenaris, Fiore is a reliable resource for his team, who counts on his experience and insight. Whether he’s on the shop floor or in the wrestling ring, he brings discipline, dedication and teamwork to everything he does.
