Sergio de la Maza, President of Tenaris in Mexico and Managing Director and Executive Vice-President of Tamsa, has been elected president of the board of directors of the Mexican National Chamber of the Iron and Steel Industry (CANACERO) for the 2026–2027 term, reinforcing Tenaris’s role in shaping the future of Mexico’s steel industry.
CANACERO is Mexico’s leading steel industry association, representing the country’s main producers and promoting policies that support industrial development, competitiveness and sustainability across the sector.
The official appointment ceremony took place during the 78th General Assembly of CANACERO, held in Mexico City. Mexico’s Secretary of Economy Marcelo Ebrard led the proceedings and reiterated the importance of close collaboration between the public and private sectors. The event began with a Board of Directors session, followed by the general assembly of members, where the 2025 activities report, treasury report and ratification of the Board of Directors for the new term were presented.
In his remarks, Sergio de la Maza emphasized the importance of strengthening the sector’s competitiveness in a challenging trade environment. “The Mexican steel industry faces a complex global environment shaped by overcapacity and unfair trade practices. It is essential to continue working in close coordination with the government of Mexico to promote public policies that strengthen the sector,” said de la Maza.
