Tenaris announced a series of new investments planned for its steel shop in Koppel, PA and seamless pipe manufacturing facility in Ambridge, PA, totaling more than $90 million USD. The upgrades, which will support the company’s ongoing strategy to increase production efficiency and modernize both facilities, complement an additional $150 million USD already invested since Tenaris acquired the locations in 2020.
The comprehensive investment plan will introduce automation and equipment upgrades aimed at improving productivity and reliability in both production processes, as well as increasing safety for employees on the shop floor.
Investments will span multiple areas of the facilities, including upgrades to the electric arc furnace at the steel shop and higher capacity ladles, allowing for increased production capacity and enhanced safety. The addition of a steel bar yard at the Koppel facility paired with a new bar cutting area in Ambridge will streamline activities between both locations and reduce risks.
“This improvement plan is another important step to bring our long-term vision for our Ambridge and Koppel facilities to fruition,” Guillermo Moreno, Tenaris US President, said. “We are proud to supply US oil and gas customers with products made here in Pennsylvania and around the country. As demand for American energy grows, we will continue to prioritize investments that maintain our standing as a reliable partner for US operators.”
Following the recent acquisition of SA Recycling by Steel Recycling Services, a Tenaris subsidiary, the company also plans to upgrade the shredder at the scrap processing center located next to the steel shop, optimizing the vertically integrated production process.
Work on the new upgrades is expected to begin in the coming months, with most projects extending into the second half of 2027.
