Tenaris inaugurated its first private nature reserve, located at the Industrial Center in Campana, Argentina. The reserve covers a 5-hectare area that preserves the region’s native ecosystem and hosts a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna species. Its creation included the development of sustainable infrastructure to support environmental awareness and educational activities, designed and built by students participating in the Gen Técnico Roberto Rocca educational program.
“This is a very important milestone because it reflects our commitment as an industry to understanding the environment in which we operate and our responsibility to care for and preserve it. The objective of this Reserve is not only to protect nature, but also to connect it with the community, linking it with other private reserves and the national park to create a large green corridor within an urban and industrial landscape,” explained Alejandra Lanfranchi, Tenaris’s Environment Manager.
The project was developed in stages. The first consisted of a biodiversity assessment at the Campana Industrial Center, carried out in collaboration with Fundación Temaiken. The second stage focused on reforestation, with native species planted across various green areas of TenarisSiderca. The project concluded with the development and enhancement of the Reserve, an initiative that invited technical students from Campana and Zárate to participate.
The inauguration included a guided tour of the reserve’s trails, allowing participants to learn more about the species that inhabit the area. The tour was led by conservationist Roberto Landó and experts from Fundación Temaiken and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA). The day concluded with the planting of native species. The ecosystem is home to nearly 110 species of trees, shrubs, vines, and herbs, most of them native.
