Tenaris will introduce THera™ Seal, a new sealing solution for high-pressure gaseous hydrogen storage, at the World Hydrogen 2024 Summit & Exhibition held at the Rotterdam Ahoy complex in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on May 13-15.
At booth E70, Tenaris experts will be available to provide insights into the latest addition to the THera™ portfolio, which features materials technology tailored for hydrogen applications.
Leveraging Tenaris's expertise in metal-to-metal connections for extreme weather conditions, the design of THera™ Seal introduces an innovation that enables seamless integration between the vessel and the sealing system, eliminating the need for additional elastomeric seals, O-rings, or gaskets to maintain pressure integrity. This sealing solution provides robustness and versatility, guaranteeing exceptional gas sealability for high-pressure hydrogen applications.
"This new sealing system offers many benefits, including a simplified assembly process, extended lifespan, compatibility with hydrogen, and suitability for fast decompression rates. The development process of THera™ Seal spanned over two years and involved collaboration between multiple teams across Tenaris, including rigorous laboratory tests and on-field stress tests," explained Maurizio Bellingardi, senior product manager of hydrogen technology industrial applications, who will present this technology on the H2 Tech Innovation stage on May 14 at 10:30 a.m.
