Tenaris is moving forward with a digitalization and automation upgrade at its welded pipes manufacturing facility in Hickman, Arkansas. The multi‑year project includes investments in advanced automation, traceability, and the implementation of the New Manufacturing System (NMS).
The $11.7 million USD project will bring new process controls to almost every aspect of the production process, enhance yard traceability, and offer fully automated pipe movements using real-time, pipe-by-pipe tracking information.
“This investment will strengthen the already important role our Hickman mill plays in our ability to serve the American energy market,” Guillermo Moreno, Tenaris US President, said. “Since we acquired this facility 20 years ago, it has served as a pillar of our industrial system, and that is a testament to the dedicated and capable team we have in place,” he added.
The implementation is expected to roll out in phases, spanning two years before fully complete. Once fully operational, the new enhancements will strengthen process control, improve quality, and fully integrate the Hickman facility within Tenaris’s digital infrastructure.
