Tenaris hosts Canadian operators for inaugural customer workshop at its Sault Ste. Marie industrial centre

Tenaris in Canada welcomed 11 participants from six leading Canadian operators for the region’s first OCTG Experience. This experience, piloted in the United States last year, featured a three-day educational program at Tenaris’s Sault Ste. Marie welded and seamless pipe mill in Ontario, Canada.

“It’s exciting to give our customers a new perspective of our offerings and introduce them to the people behind the pipe,” said Hafon Pshebylo, Technical Sales Manager. “The goal is to build trust and give participants the opportunity to engage with Tenaris subject matter experts, all while giving them the space to network with peers from other operators.”

The program allowed drilling and procurement professionals to deepen their understanding of Tenaris’s OCTG products and services, the steelmaking process, and network outside the office, all while getting a taste of the local Sault Ste. Marie community. During the first two days, participants spent time in the classroom and touring the pipe mill, learning about different parts of the production process before seeing it in action.

“My main takeaway from the experience is the high level of quality control and assurance Tenaris provides. The amount of care and technical expertise we’ve seen here has certainly left a strong impression,” commented Martin Zatka, Drilling & Completions Tubular and Materials Coordinator for Paramount Resources Ltd.

Participants also took part in RunReady™ service demonstrations, including digital tallying with PipeTracer™, quick release protector (QRP) removal, and easy run coating (ERC) applications. The experience concluded with a tour of Algoma Steel where participants gained insights into the production of hot-rolled steel sheet and plate products, now using Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology. This visit was particularly relevant, as Algoma Steel is one of Tenaris’s suppliers of hot-rolled coils used as inputs for the electric resistance welded (ERW) line.

“If there’s anything I’d like participants to take away from the experience, it’s the number of passionate and dedicated people behind our products and services,” said Carolina Leao, Technical Sales Regional Director. “I’m excited for us to host more of these kinds of engagements to share our expertise with customers in this market. It strengthens our ability to innovate and collaborate in meeting our customers’ needs.”

Tenaris will continue to host future iterations of the OCTG Experience around the world to share knowledge and engage key customers.
