Tenaris hosted a Geothermal Workshop in Dalmine, Italy, on Oct. 7, bringing together customers, technology partners, industry experts, and representatives from Tenaris’s technical sales, R&D, product engineering and commercial teams, driving collaboration across the geothermal value chain. Participants from ten countries across Europe, Asia, North and South America gathered to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of the geothermal sector.

As geothermal gains momentum as an enabler of the energy transition and security, the industry faces a new phase of growth, driven by innovation, investment and the need for reliable, low-carbon energy solutions.

“By combining technical expertise, commercial experience, operational capabilities, and market insights, this workshop provided valuable perspectives on emerging opportunities and how Tenaris can contribute to the continued development of the geothermal industry,” commented Paolo Novelli, Tenaris Technical Sales Regional Director. “Building on our extensive OCTG expertise and broad portfolio of products and services, we are well positioned to support the evolving needs of geothermal projects worldwide.”

The event featured presentations from leading industry players, including Miklos Antics, President of European Geothermal Energy Council (EGEC), who highlighted geothermal's growing role in European decarbonization and energy security strategies. “In the next few years, geothermal will become a cornerstone of the energy transition,” he said, stressing the need for faster permitting, reliable supply chains, and continued investment across the industry.

Innovation was another key theme of the workshop. Nikolaj Holmer Nissen, Chief Operating Officer at Green Therma, focused on the potential of geothermal energy to decarbonize district heating systems across Europe and highlighted the importance of strong partnerships to scale new solutions. “What we appreciate in the cooperation with Tenaris is the deep knowledge of tubing and casings, combined with the capacity to deliver at scale,” he said.

Participants also heard from Desiree Codenotti, Sales Manager at Turboden, who presented the role of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology in geothermal power generation. She described the workshop as a valuable opportunity to connect companies operating across different segments of the geothermal value chain and identify new areas for collaboration. “I appreciated the interest in our technology and found several synergies that are worth exploring further,” she said.

The event reinforced Tenaris's commitment to supporting the advancement of geothermal energy by fostering dialogue, collaboration and innovation across the sector.
