Tenaris hosted 15 industry leaders from eight different US E&P companies for the second edition of the OCTG Experience, a two-day immersive workshop. First piloted in 2025, Tenaris’s Commercial and Technical Sales teams welcomed engineers and procurement professionals from some of the top US energy operators to gain a better understanding of the technical aspects behind OCTG and field services.
“The main goals of this program are knowledge sharing and inspiring collaborative innovation,” said Laura Urrutia, Tenaris Commercial Director. “By getting up close and personal with our products and services, we can provide participants practical takeaways for their day-to-day work.”
The first day was hosted at Tenaris’s seamless pipe facility in Bay City, Texas, where participants were able to tour the state-of-the-art pipe mill and learn more about steel grades, OCTG manufacturing, heat treatment, and threading processes. On the second day, participants visited the company’s threading facility in Houston, where they were able to see Tenaris’s RunReady™ services in action, including measuring pipe, drifting on the rack, and cleaning and applying dope. They were also able to take part in a demonstration led by field services teams broadcasted live from the Rig Direct® Academy rig in Veracruz, Mexico.
“It’s really interesting to see the amount of care and quality control that goes into each joint. My favorite part of the experience has been the mill tour – it’s rare to get the chance to see manufacturing at such a scale, and at this level of sophistication.”
Spencer Flick, Drilling Engineer, Ascent Resources
“Some of our best services were developed based on feedback from our customers,” said Colby Felux, Tenaris Commercial Director. “This is a moment for collaboration as much as it is for learning. We want to empower our customers to partner with us to develop offerings that meet their needs.”
The company will continue to host future iterations of the OCTG Experience in the US, with plans to expand it to Canada in the coming weeks.
