Tenaris has opened its new service center in Fort St. John, British Columbia situated in the Montney Formation, a region known for containing one of North America’s largest natural gas reserves and supporting Canada’s LNG projects. The service center, an investment announced in June 2025, was completed on time and in budget to serve customers in the region with Rig Direct® service.
“Our service centers play a vital role in Tenaris’s Rig Direct® model. Being closer to our customers in the Montney region strengthens our ability to respond quickly to their needs and better support their day-to-day drilling operations in one of Canada’s most active and promising energy regions,” said Martín Castro, President of Tenaris in Canada.
The Rig Direct® service model for OCTG pipe and accessories offers a comprehensive, digitally integrated approach that boosts operational efficiency, lowers costs, and enhances reliability and well integrity for oil and gas operators.
From the yard in Northeastern British Columbia, Tenaris will offer technical and digital solutions such as RunReady™ service, which ensures that pipes arrive at the rig ready to be run, while improving rig efficiency and safety. This covers inspection, accessory assembly, and field tally preparation through Tenaris’s unique PipeTracer® identification system for pipe-by-pipe traceability from the mill to the well.
Our team members at the new service center in Fort St. John. Tenaris
The Fort St. John Service Center spans nine acres and increases Tenaris’s storage capacity. Over the past few months, several new employees trained in Tenaris’s Grande Prairie, Alberta yard and learned from experienced team members prior to moving to the new service center.
Following the $5M USD investment, the Fort St. John Service Center received the first shipment of steel pipes from its Sault Ste. Marie Industrial Center, where all Tenaris’s Canadian steel pipes are manufactured. The OCTG produced in Canada is shipped directly by rail to one of Tenaris’s three service centers in Edmonton Alberta, Grande Prairie Alberta and now Fort St. John British Columbia, before dispatching to customers drilling locations.
In addition to these service centers, Tenaris’s footprint in Canada includes its Sault Ste. Marie Industrial Center with production of seamless and welded steel pipes and where it has invested over $180M USD since 2020. It also operates three facilities in Alberta including an Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) accessories and pipe threading facility in Nisku, Alberta, three coating facilities in Edmonton and Camrose, Alberta, as well as a commercial office in Calgary, and a research and development center in Toronto. Tenaris employs more than 1,200 employees across four provinces.
