TenarisSaudiSteelPipes Managing Director, Mariano Armengol, joined industry leaders in discussing the role of manufacturers in the growth of the country’s energy industry during the second edition of the Saudi International Iron & Steel Conference (SIIS) in Riyadh on September 12-14, 2022.
The event was organized by the National Iron Industry Committee of the Federation of Saudi Chambers and was held under the patronage of the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, and the Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Falih.
Mariano Armengol was invited to take part in the panel “Steel Pipe Connects the Kingdom.” During his presentation, Armengol focused on how the company is very aligned with Saudi Arabia’s energy transition strategy, as Tenaris announced its decarbonization objectives and is focusing on supporting projects for carbon capture, geothermal energy as well as safe hydrogen storage and transformation technologies. Tenaris in Saudi Arabia is already taking part in the kingdom’s energy transition process and has provided this year welded line pipes for Air products in the industrial city of Jubail.
Armengol reconfirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s 2030 vision, which includes a transformative economic and social reform blueprint that is opening Saudi Arabia up to the world, reducing the country’s dependence on oil, diversify its economy, and develop public service sectors. Tenaris will accompany this by boosting local production to meet the demands of its customer, Saudi Aramco, and the Kingdom. “We’re proud that our company has some of the most technologically advanced and productive plants in the KSA, while we stay at the forefront in terms of safety, processes and development,” said Armengol.
He also addressed the challenges the steel sector is facing both at a local level and globally and highlighted the promising initiatives that are promoting the expansion and the sustainable development of manufacturers in Saudi Arabia.
