Tenaris has released a new safety guide, “Working Safely in the Context of COVID-19,” as part of the strategy to protect employees, contractors and vendors and to prevent the spread of the coronavirus during the ongoing global pandemic. The 43-page manual consolidates the guidelines issued since the start of the COVID-19 crisis into a single document and covers the full range of topics, including site entry procedures, hygiene measures, sanitization protocols, physical distancing requirements, case management, communication strategy and leadership roles.
“In this context, our responsibility is to execute all the required measures aimed at the prevention and defense of our people’s health in our plants and offices,” explains Paolo Rocca, Chairman and CEO of Tenaris, in the opening statement of the guide, “to defend the continuity and long-term sustainability of our company and its value chain, to do everything possible to sustain the communities in which we are rooted and support the action of governments of the countries in which we operate.”
All the measures outlined in the guide have been implemented at Tenaris’s facilities around the world, starting with the company’s mill in Qingdao, China, which experienced the effects of the pandemic first and was also the first facility to gradually resume operations. Medical experts from the Humanitas Research Hospital & University, sister company of Tenaris through the Techint Group, assisted in the development of the safety guidelines, drawing from their extensive clinical experience in combating COVID-19 in Italy.
“Working safely in the context of COVID-19” is available to the public and can be viewed here.
