In line with its established legacy of advocacy in education across its communities around the world, Tenaris has awarded 75 students in Nigeria with scholarships from the Roberto Rocca Education Program (RREP).
The award ceremony, held in Rivers, united students from the Onne and Ogun communities of Nigeria, home to the company’s largest operation in Africa and where Tenaris has been present for more than 40 years.
The scholarships have been running in Nigeria for seven years, with a total investment of UDS 160,000 to this day. This year, 70 high school students were honored with scholarships for their excellent academic performance.
Five university students also received the Roberto Rocca Education Program scholarship for their outstanding academic achievements. Established in 2005, this global initiative supports technical education and offers scholarships for graduates and fellowships for postgraduates to study applied sciences or engineering around the world.
“Congratulations to this year’s Merit Award and scholarship winners. We are confident they will continue on this path of excellence. Through these initiatives, Tenaris continues to support students who are committed to learning and pushing their boundaries for greater success. We promote technical education to foster technological innovation and strengthen technical capacity, which are critical to the long-term development of any community,” said Rosario Osobase, Tenaris country manager in Nigeria.
