Tenaris Remote Monitoring Center leverages real-time data to support well integrity and operational efficiency

As well operations become more demanding on efficiencies and increasingly data-driven, operators need greater visibility of casing string performance during critical stages of well construction. To provide an additional level of support that enables customers to execute casing runs safely, efficiently, and with confidence, Tenaris launched its Remote Monitoring Center at its North American headquarters in Houston, Texas, two years ago.

Designed as a real-time support hub for onsite field operations, the Remote Monitoring Center has expanded significantly over the last year and now monitors 80% of Tenaris Torque Turn Monitoring services and is permanently connected to 70 rigs to support iRun Casing® operations in the United States.

During each casing run, Tenaris field services representatives work onsite to oversee proper installation and address operational issues as they arise. Supporting them remotely, the Remote Monitoring Center delivers real-time monitoring and technical expertise through iRun Casing® and Torque Turn Monitoring, two technologies included in the Rig Direct® integrated service model’s WISer™ package of digital solutions. This combination of onsite execution and remote oversight enhances operational performance and helps ensure well integrity throughout the casing run.

iRun Casing® processes rig electronic drilling recorder data to optimize casing installation using physics-based models and advanced analytics. Torque Turn Monitoring captures makeup data for each connection to verify that torque values remain within an optimal range. Together, these two technologies deliver enhanced visibility during and after each job, with live feedback and detailed post-job reports that help inform future operations.

"We're the only casing supplier that offers this level of 24/7 remote technical support as a value-add for our customers," said Cesar Gutierrez, Field Services Senior Director. "Right now, we monitor around 300 jobs a month, and our goal is to soon cover 100% of our casing run jobs in the United States while continuing to expand our iRun Casing® service. That way, our customers can feel even more confident in our products and the services we provide."

As onshore wells grow longer and more complex, the ability to identify issues and respond quickly becomes increasingly critical. The team behind the Remote Monitoring Center brings together deep technical expertise and hands-on field experience, enabling them to analyze data in real time and provide timely recommendations when operational challenges arise.

Looking ahead, Tenaris plans to expand the Remote Monitoring Centers's coverage across North America, including Canada and Mexico. As artificial intelligence capabilities continue to evolve, the company is exploring new opportunities to leverage predictive analytics and automated insights to help teams identify trends earlier, respond faster to operational challenges, and further strengthen decision-making throughout the casing running process.
