Tenaris hosted the eighth edition of its Tubular Running program at the Rig Direct® Academy, bringing together professionals from across its global network for a week of hands-on technical training in Mexico.
Launched in 2016, the program marks 10 years of hands-on training and has now reached 158 participants worldwide, strengthening technical knowledge and operational expertise that support customers in the field.
The weeklong program welcomed 30 engineers from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates and the United States, representing the Commercial Front End, Technical Sales, Field Services, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Services, Quality and Marketing teams.
The Rig Direct® Academy was established after many years of conducting rig demonstrations and trials at external facilities. Tenaris set up its own testing rig and drilled a test well within the facilities of Tamsa, its industrial center in Veracruz. Today, the rig allows the company to test new technologies, demonstrate products and services to customers and train its technical teams in a real operating environment.
Designed as an immersive learning experience, the Tubular Running program combines classroom instruction with rig-based training to familiarize participants with the drilling operations where Tenaris’s products and services are used. Throughout the program, participants explored key solutions including TenarisHydril connections, connectors and Dopeless® technology.
“The idea is to recreate the user experience by running our products and pushing them to their limits in conditions similar to our customers’ operations,” said Tomás Castiñeiras, Tenaris Technical Sales Senior Director. “This experience helps our people understand how connections behave during tubular running operations, how key parameters influence performance and what it takes to deliver better products for our customers.”
In addition to hands-on training at the Rig Direct® Academy, the program included a mill tour of Tamsa, where attendees visited the manufacturing facilities and the R&D center, gaining insight into the processes, testing capabilities and quality standards behind Tenaris technologies.
