Neuquén, Argentina (August 11, 2026) – Tenaris has successfully started operations of its third hydraulic fracturing set in Vaca Muerta, one of the world's largest shale oil and gas reservoirs, located in Neuquén, Argentina. The milestone reinforces the company’s participation in the development of the Vaca Muerta shale play through the integration of industrial capabilities, operational expertise, and service management.
Following an investment of $110 million USD, the equipment began operations in Los Toldos II East, a field operated by Tecpetrol, where it will provide hydraulic fracturing services over the next 18 months.
"Since we made the strategic decision to acquire our first hydraulic fracturing and coiled tubing equipment in 2020, we have invested more than $240 million USD in the development and expansion of our oilfield services business in Argentina. Today, Tenaris is positioned as the third largest service provider in Vaca Muerta, with more than 8,700 hydraulic fracturing jobs completed," said Andrea Previtali, President of Tenaris for the Southern Cone.
The third fracturing set has 28 pumps equipped with Dynamic Gas Blending (DGB) technology, which improves efficiency through the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) as a power source, reducing diesel consumption by more than 80%. This enables more efficient operations with lower carbon emissions for our clients and consolidates Tenaris as the third-largest service provider in the basin.
To support these operations, Tenaris runs a 25-hectare Service Center in Vista Alegre, located between Añelo and Neuquén City. The facility enhances the company's capabilities in the Neuquén Basin and ensures efficient service delivery for customers across the region.
Vaca Muerta currently has 15 hydraulic fracturing sets serving the basin's leading operators. With the addition of its third set, Tenaris consolidates its position as one of the top three providers of this service, reaffirming its commitment to the energy development of the region.
