Young entrepreneurs of Tenaris’s business foundation put digital marketing know-how to the test

Through its Impulsa Mandela digital initiative, TenarisTuboCaribe Foundation has offered training in digital marketing to young entrepreneurs from the Nelson Mandela district, in Cartagena, Colombia.

Tenaris partnered with the Technological University of Bolívar, which provided instruction on customer experience mapping and digital transformation to 45 young people over the course of six weeks.

"We took advantage of the fact that the participants are digital natives, young people who have grown up in an ecosystem of social networks, guiding these skills towards a business vision to fully seize the tools these platforms offer for them to become digital entrepreneurs," said Francisco Ruiz, executive director of the TenarisTuboCaribe Foundation

Entrepreneurs were encouraged to create digital marketing strategies, with real case studies from previous Impulsa Mandela editions, aimed at boosting small local family businesses.

"With this training, I think this new generation of young people who are digital natives can apply the knowledge gained to social networks with a community sense, communicating, contributing, and striving to improve the conditions of our neighborhood and our neighbors,"

Alexis Montt, member of the winning team.

Alexis Montt, a law student, and member of the winning team that presented the digital marketing strategy for Willy's Barber Shop, said the program had a positive impact on local companies. "With this training, I think this new generation of young people who are digital natives can apply the knowledge gained to social networks with a community sense, communicating, contributing, and striving to improve the conditions of our neighborhood and our neighbors," said Montt.

Participants were divided into 10 teams and presented their strategies to the judges. The top three presentations were awarded special bonuses for the purchase of technological equipment.

TenarisTuboCaribe Foundation has invested more than $180,000 in 2022 to enhance its youth education initiatives. The program’s focus has been to provide youngs with the necessary training and encourage their pursuit of opportunities to start their own businesses and become active economic players in their community.
