Tenaris will spotlight its new cycle of growth coupled with product and services innovations at the 50th anniversary of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), May 6-9, at booth #3114.
In the first quarter of 2019, Tenaris announced plans for investments in each of the three largest oil and gas producing markets. The acquisition of a major shareholding in Saudi Steel Pipe in January strengthens its industrial presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and broadens the range of products that it supplies to Saudi Aramco. In February, the company announced a joint venture with one of Russia’s leading steel companies, Severstal, to build a welded pipe mill for producing OCTG in the heart of the West Siberian oilfields.
Most recently, in March, Tenaris announced the prospective acquisition of U.S. pipe manufacturer IPSCO Tubulars from TMK for $1.2 billion, which remains subject to regulatory clearance. This new investment would add to the $8 billion in investments that Tenaris has made over the past 12 years to build up its industrial and service footprint in the US.
“These strategic moves are aimed at improving our competitive positioning in the most relevant oil and gas markets today through the complementation and integration of industrial assets and product technologies,” said Paolo Rocca, Tenaris Chairman & CEO. “We continue to innovate and redefine our role in the tubular sector, and in how we integrate our operations and service offer with our customers.”
In the past two years, Tenaris has added 12 new service centers around the world reinforcing its customer service capabilities for the deployment of Rig Direct®. From these facilities, Tenaris provides technical and logistics solutions to support customers.
To further strengthen customer integration and supply chain efficiency, Tenaris is presenting a new digital platform – the Rig Direct® portal, which aims to streamline business processes through connecting Tenaris and its customers in a dedicated digital space for the management of product dispatches, the tracking of trucks from Tenaris service yards to customer rig sites, as well as invoicing.
Tenaris has also been investing to expand its high-quality product line for offshore and onshore applications. On display at booth #3114, the latest addition to Tenaris’s well-established premium Wedge connections – TenarisHydril Wedge 667® for hazardous offshore drilling. Tenaris is also introducing a new range of large diameter connectors - EasyDock™ - to complement its high performance BlueDock® range of connectors. TenarisHydril EasyDock ™ is specifically designed for use in applications with less stringent performance requirements such as onshore and shallow water.
Tenaris has been exhibiting at OTC for more than thirty years, presenting the evolution of its products, integration of innovative solutions for changing energy markets and the expansion of its customized services.
