Tenaris expands torque turn monitoring to casing running tools in the Permian Basin and Vaca Muerta

With deployments in the Permian Basin and Vaca Muerta, Tenaris has introduced torque turn monitoring for casing running tools, marking a new milestone in the service’s global adoption.

Part of the WISer™ solutions portfolio under the Rig Direct® service model, the service collects and analyzes connection make-up data in real time at the wellsite to ensure precise well construction. It also enhances efficiency and quality control, helping customers meet the highest standards in their operations.

Since its launch in 2022, Tenaris’s torque turn monitoring service has supported the running of nearly 100 million feet of OCTG across more than 3,900 jobs in the U.S. and Canada. It has recently been adopted in Argentina and tested in the UAE and Ecuador.

“By expanding to cover CRT as well as power tongs, Tenaris now supports both types of equipment used for casing installation worldwide, broadening the serviceable market for torque turn monitoring,” said César Gutiérrez, Tenaris Field Services Global Senior Director. “Relying on state-of-the-art equipment with high precision standards, the solution provides unique operational performance reports and offers clear safety advantages by reducing personnel exposure in the rig red zone. It also enables real-time monitoring from Tenaris Remote Monitoring Center in Houston or from our customers’ own facilities.”
